It's that time again, folks! INFO POST DUMPS, and with a new chocobro under my belt (gotta catch 'em all!!), you know what that means...
Even though that image before the cut that is actually completely unrelated to Final Fantasy XV entirely is pretty much all you really need to know about Gladious Amicitia, I'll kindly offer a few other things of note about the island's newest Chocobro.
Or gifs. We know this is all just an excuse for me to post gifs. There really isn't a whole lot to say about Gladio, honestly, but anyway….HAVE GIFS.
Gladiolus Amicitia, more commonly just Gladio, is the eldest son of House Amicitia of Lucis, which for generations upon generations have served as the Shield of the King, protecting a long line of Lucian royalty, and Gladio is no exception. Protecting the crown prince Noctis has always been his birthright, and it is a title he holds with pride and honor and determination. Although he sometimes feels frustrated with Noctis, he has never felt that his obligation was a burden, never felt it was an obligation he didn't withhold gladly. As such, his life has been spent in training so that he could be as strong as he needed to be to do whatever it took to protect the prince and the kingdom of Lucis.
So he big. He strong! He upholds the tradition of his protector house AND the tradition of a Final Fantasy character wielding ABSURDLY large swords, and he uses them well!
Although Gladio is usually a very personable and friendly sort (many people comment on how he just has a way with people, that they usually take an instant liking to him), he does have a bit of a temper than can flare up, although that's mostly when Noctis or Prompto aren't taking things like training seriously enough, or when something he's fierce about protecting (like Noctis, or his little sister Iris) is in trouble or compromised. He holds himself to a high standard, as well, and can get frustrated when he fails to meet that standard for himself, as well as for other.
(As an Aries myself, I cannot relate to this at allllll. Nope. Not meeeeee, doo doo doo).
As you can see by all these lovely gifs, Gladio is a pretty big and muscular dude. 6'6" (198 cm) to be specific, with a penchant for wearing clothes that allow him to show off his arms or his abs, whichever seems to suit him at the moment. Showing off his arms (and his back at times, too!) reveals the massive eagle tattoo he has that covers the entirety of his back, spreads to most of his arms, and wraps around to his upper chest, as well. He has spent his whole life training to be a Shield, and it SHOWS, and he is extremely proud of his physicality, and that shows, too, from his cocky strut to his casual posturing to just how he seems to always know his best angles.
I'm only including these gifs to give a better view of the tattoo. Honest.
There is also a good chance that the muscles are there to distract you from HIS GODDAMN MULLET.
But not the scar. There is a scar, by the way, down the left side of his face, that he got when defending Noctis against a drunken citizen, lol.
Gladio is essentially just paid to lift Noct up. Literally..
He will be teaching with Prompto and Ignis this semester, and also sharing a single bed in the apartment they share with Seivarden, where I imagine them all sleeping tucked in like sardines and insist that this is practically canon, anyway.
I feel like anyone claiming to NOT have moved the camera angle to get a better look at Gladio's butt in this scene is a LIAR. I'm sorry.
He fucking LOVES Cup Noodle™.
And he also fucking LOVES Camping. Especially with superior Coleman™ gear!
He's also kind of a big bookworm, but he doesn't hide that fact at all. Most of the time, settling in with a good book is just as good of a way to spend an evening as a training session or a night on the town.
He is clearly a man of unique solutions to problems, as well. For example: stuck in ice?
Just punch it! Or how about the classic PRINCELY YEET:
