43 Unicorn Street; Saturday Morning [12/02].
Yesterday, Gladio had found himself an unexpected (and entirely voluntary!) outcast from his own apartment, and after failing to find refuge over at the Perk, he knew he would definitely find it over at Nell's. He'd even managed to get a good deal of that reading in, too.
And now that it was the next morning, there was breakfast to be had. Nell was back to being at the crux of it, with Gladio there to help, but mostly, he would be in charge of the oatmeal.
All the while, singing a little under his breath:
"When you said yesterday that it's nearly Christmas
What did I want and I thought just love me, love me, love me
That's what I want for Christmas..."
Which was funny, because Gladio didn't even really KNOW a lot of Christmas songs, nor was he entirely aware that he had been kind of singing one.
[[ for the oh-so-delicately modded Queen of Breakfast, of course! ]]

And while Christmas was certainly a thing where been grew up, secular Christmas songs weren't something she knew a lot a about.

"Let’s take that road before us
And sing a chorus or two..."
Which, in context, was actually kind of funny, even if it was a little confusing of where that might have even come from.

[Ahhh! Autocorrect turned sleigh ride into sith runner.]

And he was about to ask if maybe this singing thinv was apparently the December Thing du jour, but all that came put was a crooning little, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."
[[ which....does sound like it could be a TYPE of sleigh, maybe? Lol ]]

She brought the eggs and bacon over to the table and returned for the cinnamon rolls, setting them out, then taking a seat to sip on her coffee and shake her head at the latest Fandom oddity.

He leaned in for a quick kiss before taking his own seat at the table and finishing with an nicely baritone, "Walking in a winter wonderland..."
He laughed, reaching for his own coffee and echoing Nell's shake of her head.
"Hey," he said, then snorted with the pleased surprise of actually saying it, not singing it, and it having been what he wanted to say, at that, "speaking of 'plans that we've made,' I still owe you birthday ones, don't I?"

She smiled at him. "I think we missed out when we were little. But as long as we're together I'm happy. Can we still go somewhere?"
no subject
"And," he quickly added, before other lyrics or another song could sneak in there before he had a chance to answer her question in a more direct way, "you're all I'll need on this trip, that I hope we can still take, if you're interested, because it would be a shame to miss out on it just because the island had bad timing in turning us into kids."

Apparently they allowed a little leeway here and there.

"In the meadow, we can build a snowman
We'll pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say, are you married?
We'll say, no man
But you can do the job when you're in town.
"Well," he amended, clearing his throat of his singing voice as he made a few amendment to this apparently very presumptuous song, "maybe the snowman part, but the place I had in mind is more in the mountain than in a meadow. And I sure don't know any Parson Brown, but we'll have to let him know we're not quite there yet."

She smiled at him. "A mountain sounds lovely. I know wherever you plan will be perfect. Because we'll be there together. What do I care how much it may storm? I've got my love to keep me warm ."

Just what he needed. A new excuse for why he shouldn't be bothering with wearing shirts at all!
But this was making having a conversation a little tricky, so he figured he may as well just go with it until this singing thing ran its course, and then they could talk potential trip details.

"Under the mistletoe, watching the fire glow, and telling me, 'I love you' - just being in your arms, takes me back to that little farm where every wish comes true," she sang. He didn't need to run anything past her. She knew she'd love whatever he planned.
